Hello!

I am a PhD student at the University of Washington Information School advised by Prof. Nic Weber. I use empirical and computational methods to 1. evaluate AI in social and political contexts and 2. determine the effectiveness of legal regulation in mitigating harmful AI behavior or usage. My work on legal regulation provides insight and improvements for state level data privacy and artificial intelligence legislation. My recent academic affilitations include fellowships at the Stanford RegLab and the Center for Democracy and Technology.

Before starting my PhD, I received my degrees in Data Science and Legal Studies at UC Berkeley, taught English in Bulgaria via a Fulbright fellowship, and was a research assistant at the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Technology. At Berkeley, I was the team lead for Human Contexts and Ethics of Data, a Coding it Forward fellow, and helped establish the human-rights centered <AI & Equality> community.

Before all of this, I was a proud attendee of public schools in California’s Central Valley.
